Uganda’s long-distance sensation Joshua Cheptegei delivered a masterclass performance on Sunday morning, clinching victory at the Burj2Burj Half Marathon held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Cheptegei crossed the finish line in a time of 59 minutes and 26 seconds, narrowly fending off a strong challenge from Kenya’s Nicholas Kipkorir, who finished just two seconds behind at 59:28. Tanzania’s Alphonce Simbu rounded out the podium in third place, clocking 59:30, making for a dramatic top-three finish separated by only four seconds.
The victory adds another significant road racing milestone to Cheptegei’s decorated career, which already boasts multiple world titles on the track and a reputation as one of the finest distance runners of his generation.
