Dr. Maggie Kigozi: A Pretty Woman of Power, Impact, and Unstoppable Success

Today we celebrate Dr. Margaret Blick Kigozi, a true symbol of power, impact, and inspiration in Uganda. A medical doctor, business consultant, educator, and sportswoman, Maggie Kigozi has spent her life breaking barriers and shaping the nation.

Born in Fort Portal to George and Molly Blick, she grew up in a vibrant motorsport family and carried that fearless spirit into her academic journey from Aga Khan Primary to Gayaza High School, Kololo S.S., and finally Makerere University, where she graduated as a doctor in 1974.

Her medical career took her across Uganda, Zambia, and Kenya during times of political unrest, yet her passion for pediatrics never faded. After the loss of her husband in 1994, she transitioned into corporate leadership as Marketing Director at Pepsi and later became the first woman Executive Director of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), serving from 1999 to 2011.

Maggie has held numerous influential roles, from Chief Scout of Uganda to Associate Professor at Makerere University, and has represented Uganda in sports including tennis, table tennis, hockey, and squash. Her excellence has earned her top honors such as the 2024 Bronze Wolf Award, the 2017 Investment Leadership Award, and the 2015 PALITA Lifetime Achievement Award.

She is also a dedicated mother to three children, including celebrated hip-hop artist Navio.

Today we celebrate Dr. Maggie Kigozi a pretty woman of strength, hard work, and undeniable success. A woman who inspires, leads, and continues to elevate Uganda.
