Events Promoter Nobat Currently Detained at Nateete Police Station Over Multiple Complaints
Renowned events organizer Norbert Twezire, better known to many as Nobat Events, is spending the night behind bars at Nateete Police Station after he voluntarily walked in to respond to accusations that have been circulating for days.
People close to him say police had already summoned him earlier in the week, but Nobat asked for a little more time because he was tied up in NRM campaign activities. When he finally made his way to the station expecting to simply give his side of the story officers reportedly took him straight into custody.
Police have confirmed that Nobat is now battling 12 different cases, most of which were filed by some of Uganda’s biggest music stars. Eddy Kenzo alone is said to have opened eight complaints. Jose Chameleone followed with three, while Mariam Tindatine added one.
While the exact details of each case are still unclear, sources indicate that most of the accusations stem from money issues and event-related disagreements the kind of misunderstandings that sometimes happen in the entertainment world.
Friends describe Nobat as stressed but cooperative, hoping the truth will come out as he explains his side. Meanwhile, artists, fans, and fellow promoters are anxiously watching, trying to make sense of how one of the industry’s most familiar faces ended up in this situation. Police say more updates will be given as investigations continue.
