iKON Awards 2026 to Unveil Nominees on October 24
The 2026 iKON Film and Television Awards will unveil its nominees on October 24 ahead of the main ceremony scheduled for December 12 at Kampala Serena Hotel.
The fourth edition of the awards will run under the theme “Beyond Borders,” reflecting organisers’ efforts to expand recognition of African filmmaking and strengthen collaboration among creatives across the continent.
The awards received 300 film submissions from local and international filmmakers, with entries coming from countries across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas. The growing international participation signals increasing interest in Uganda’s film and television industry.
This year’s edition also introduces regional award categories, including Best East and Central African Film, Best West African Film, Best North African Film and Best Southern African Film, creating more opportunities to recognise cinematic talent across Africa.
According to the published awards roadmap, the nominees’ brunch is scheduled for November 21, followed by the iKON Africa Film Forum from December 7 to 10 and a screening of short films by young filmmakers on December 11.
The awards ceremony on December 12 will bring together filmmakers, actors, producers and other industry players to celebrate achievements in film and television.
The iKON Awards are organised to recognise outstanding talent, connect creatives to opportunities and support the growth of Uganda’s film and television industry while building stronger links with the wider African creative sector.
