Tragedy in Mbale: Popular MC Garvin Wanambwa Imran Fatally Stabbed by Alleged Girlfriend
Mbale City is reeling in grief and disbelief following the tragic death of popular events host and entertainer, MC Garvin real name Wanambwa Imran who was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend in a shocking domestic altercation at his residence in Majanga.
According to neighbors and eyewitnesses, the fatal incident unfolded on the evening of Tuesday, September 9. Garvin, who had become a household name in Mbale’s nightlife scene as the resident emcee at Oak Bar and a frequent host at high-profile events around the city, was attacked in what is being described as a moment of rage and jealousy.
A close neighbor and longtime friend of the deceased, Munira, was among the first to witness the tragic aftermath. Speaking to a crowd that had gathered outside Garvin’s home, she narrated a chilling sequence of events that led up to the fatal stabbing.
According to Munira, Garvin had a girlfriend who was well known in the neighborhood. She often stayed with him and was familiar to many of the locals. However, on the night of the incident, the girlfriend was reportedly away. During this time, Garvin allegedly invited another woman to his home. After spending some time together, the woman left, and all seemed calm until Garvin’s girlfriend unexpectedly returned.
Munira recounted that the girlfriend arrived back at the residence around 7:00 p.m. and was visibly upset. She reportedly waited in the shadows outside the gate for Garvin to return. Munira, who noticed the woman’s suspicious behavior, approached her and tried to convince her to leave and come back later when Garvin was home. However, the woman refused and insisted on waiting.
When Garvin eventually returned, events escalated quickly. Munira said she heard shouting followed by a commotion outside. By the time she rushed out, she found Garvin staggering and bleeding, struggling to make his way toward the gate, clearly in distress. In that same moment, Munira saw two women one of whom she identified as Garvin’s girlfriend throwing what appeared to be an object over the fence.
“I saw two girls standing there. One of them tossed something over the fence,” Munira said. “At first, I didn’t realize what it was until I saw the blood. That’s when I understood it must have been a knife.”
In a brave act, Munira quickly intervened and apprehended the suspect with help from other neighbors. Though the woman reportedly pleaded to be let go, the residents stood firm, detaining her until police arrived at the scene.
Garvin was rushed to the nearest hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life, but the injuries he sustained proved too severe. He succumbed to his wounds before receiving treatment.
Police from the Maluku Police Station later confirmed the arrest of the suspect, who remains in custody as investigations continue. Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding possible charges, but they indicated that the woman is being questioned to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
The news of Garvin’s death has sent shockwaves across Mbale and beyond. Tributes have poured in from fans, friends, and fellow entertainers who remember him as a vibrant, charismatic, and talented figure.
